Prep Decides How Paint Holds Up

Most paint failures start underneath: cracks that were never taped, glossy trim painted without scuffing, water stains that bleed through a fresh coat. We put time for repairs and priming on the calendar instead of rushing to color.

Some homeowners hire us just to paint; for others, paint is the final stage of a bigger remodel. Inside, we usually work room by room, so most of the house stays in use. Exterior work depends on dry weather, and the calendar notes which days could shift.

Where the Brush Goes

  • Rooms and stairwells

    Bedrooms, living areas, halls and stairwells, with drywall dings patched, cracks repaired and primer applied wherever bare patches show through.

  • Doors, casing and cabinetry

    Interior doors, baseboards, window casing and kitchen or bath cabinets, cleaned of grease and scuffed so fresh paint grips rather than peeling along the edges.

  • Exterior surfaces

    Exterior walls, trim, shutters and porch ceilings, washed and scraped where needed, with failed caulk replaced before any paint goes on.

Before You Pick Colors

  • Homes built before 1978

    Older houses may have lead-based paint. Scraping and sanding then follow lead-safe containment and cleanup, which adds time that we show on the calendar.

  • Choosing a sheen

    Higher sheens stand up to scrubbing and suit trim and wet rooms, but they show every dent. Lower sheens are forgiving on older walls. We suggest a sheen for each surface.

  • Weather windows

    Exterior paint needs dry surfaces and moderate temperatures. Your calendar leaves some room for that, and we tell you promptly when rain pushes a day.

Painting Questions

Do we need to move the furniture ourselves?

Not the heavy pieces. We slide them away from the walls and cover them. Packing up small items, wall art and anything breakable beforehand speeds things up.

How long does interior painting take?

It depends on the number of rooms, ceiling heights and how much repair the walls need. A few rooms may take a few days, a full interior longer, and your calendar shows which rooms we are in and when.
